Parallels launches spontaneously when Skype on Mac is accessed

I am running the latest of everything, except Windows:
--Mac OS 10.12.1
--Skype for Mac 7.39 (176)
--Parallels Desktop 12.0.2 (41353)
--Windows 8 (under Parallels)

When Parallels is not running, 2 troublesome things have recently started to happen that have never happened before throughout years of use:

(1) I open Contacts on the Mac, click a phone number, and choose Call with Skype. Instead of switching me over to Skype for Mac (which is actually running), Parallels Desktop starts up, starts Windows, and switches me to Skype for Windows.

(2) Again, with Parallels is not running, if I manually make a phone call in Skype for Mac, when I terminate the call, Parallels Desktop starts up and starts Windows.

How can I stop this behavior?
