Parallels & Linux Sugguestion

I am wanting to create a development machine to learn Ruby on Rails and MySQL. What linux distros work best with Parallels?

I have debian etch (debian version 4.0) running as a guest os. I have had no problems with it. I did a "net install." I am very familiar with linux and unix, however.
