Parallels on mac while running second version of mac goes into sleep mode

I am using parallels on a mac to run a second version of mac. when i click out of the parallels window after a certain amount of time parallels goes into a "sleep/suspended" mode and asks me to click to reopen it. I have tried the basics of going to settings and click start up and shut down manually, and the custom options as well and these have not worked. can you let me know what the solution is to avoid it going into a sleep mode? thank you
