Parallels Tools fail to install on Ubuntu 14.04... failed to install kernel?

I am trying to share folders from my MacOS to Ubuntu 14.04, which is partitioned through Parallels 8. I can't find any indication that I can access my MacOS files through Ubuntu while it is running. The best direction I've found is to install Parallels Tools, though the installation fails. Specifically, I receive the error:
Error: An error occurred when installing Parallels Tools. Please go to /var/logs/parallels-tools-install.log for more information.

Upon reading the log, I find the following output:
Error: could not build kernel modules
Error: failed to install kernel modules

I'm currently on kernel 3.13.0-36-generic. I've been troubleshooting this through Google as best I can, though nothing seems to work. My ultimate goal is to share between MacOS and Ubuntu... can anyone share insight to resolve this? Thank you.

It would probably help f it was posted on the right subforum, this is the OS X Guest sub, there's a Linux Guest sub.
