Parallels Tools installation stops at 40%

After days of wasting my time, and with help from this forum, I managed to update my Parallels Desktop.

However, I do not get anywhere with installing Parallel Tools (and thus cannot share files with my MacOs, which is one of the main reasons I installed Parallels).

Installation starts, but stops after 40% and I get a "There was a problem updating Parallels Tools. Please restart Windows".

I've tried that a few times, no joy. The necessary file exists (prl-tools-win.iso) and the virtual machine is connected.

I really do not know what to do anymore, I have been looking for a solution for two weeks and I am just about to give up on Parallels.

Any help would be much appreciated,

To investigate the issue we need some technical information, so could you please reproduce it, send us Problem Report as described in http://kb.parallels.com/en/9058 and give me an ID?

Thank you for your e-mail, but I am about to give up:

I generated the problem report but cannot send it; according to Parallels I do not have an Internet connection (which I obviously have as I would not be sending this message otherwise).

Should I just upgrade to Parallels 8, spend more money, and hope it works for a change?

Parallels Desktop sometimes has troubles with internet connection when proxy or firewall is used.
But we can just use it another way: on the report creation form there's a button "Show in Finder" - so you can find your report file there and send me via email: hanna@parallels.com
