Parallels's mouse driver doesn't support acceleration on WinXP guest?

I have an annoying issue with the mouse on Windows XP guest (Linux host). Even if I put the mouse speed and acceleration at the maximum, the mouse movement remains slow.

Anyone found a way to fix this?
 
Yes. Twice.

When the Parallels tools are not installed, the mouse behaves correctly. But when it is enabled, the mouse stop accelerating (and is much slower) when it is over the guest window.
 
I had no idea that mouse speed was normal before Parallels Tools was installed!

Certainly the multiple mouse pointers is annoying when running without the Parallels mouse driver.

And yes, we can confirm the slowness.

For example, scroll the mouse left/right with 1600x1200 resolution in the host OS, maybe 1024x768 in the guest and center that window on the host OS desktop. The mouse slows down noticeably when it goes through the VM session.

Setting the Windows guest mouse speed to max did not fix it... still noticeably slower than Linux's mouse.

Please disable Mouse Synchronization in Parallels Tools Center to check if this will help.
You can open Parallels Tools Center by double clicking the yellow icon in system tray.

Attached is a screen capture of the dialog I think you are talking about. As you can see, the check box is grayed out and checked. Possibly it is necessary to go into device manager and switch the mouse driver to the standard PS/2 one. If so, that has the affect of two mouse pointers while in a Win2K VM session... much worse than the slowness.

Same thing as mdlueck. I can't disable the mouse synchronisation in the parallels tools configuration.

And I must add that the same problem arise on CentOS (guest OS) with the parallels tools installed.

Please uninstall Parallels Tools. Shut down Windows.

Start the VM again. From the Actions menu choose Install Parallels Tools. In Parallels Tools installation wizard select Custom installation. Disable Mouse Synchronisation and follow the wizard instructions. Restart your Windows OS.

Not installing the Mouse Sync in a Win2K VM session is totally unacceptable. Like I said, it has the affect of ending up with two mouse pointers with a variable amount of space between the two of them.

Win98 does not have that behavior, and it runs on the standard Microsoft driver. Win98 w/o a Parallels driver is at least usable. Win2K is definitely not.

Is there some difference in Win2K that causes the mouse's split personality?
 
Mdlueck, I am just trying to localize the problem. Please try for we could continue investigating.

All right, I have done so. Thankfully the double mouse did not reoccur. (Possible that is Vista specific, possibly when using Parallels on a remote workstation through VNC... not going to purposely try to recreate that annoyance!)

The mouse acceleration seems normal without the Mouse Sync driver installed.
 
My mouse "without mouse syn on" Is too fast. The opposite problem, Plus the dual mouse issue is there. Slowing the mouse in control panel dosen't slow it enough, its' really hard to use. And annoying, it's really jerky.
