Passing clipboard info

Is there any way to copy text from my host and paste it into the guest? I have parallels tools installed, but the copy/paste procedure doesn't work.
 
It just occurred to me, do I need to install parallels tools in my host as well as my guest? I can pass clipboard info from by guest to my host, but not in the reverse direction.

Might help us to know what you are using for host and guest os.
