PD10 forgets resolution of second monitor in full screen mode

Whenever I exit full screen mode and re-enter full screen mode my external monitors resolution is forgotten and it resets to 1024 x 768. Each time this happens I have to manually set the resolution in windows to get it back to its original (native) resolution of 1200 x 1920 (portrait).

How can I make parallels remember the resolution of the external display so that it automatically chooses the right resolution when I go back into full screen mode?

Extra info:
-Im running PD10 with Windows 8.1 on a MacBook Pro Retina 15.
-Ive configured Parallels to use the external screen by checking Use all displays in full screen.
-Toggling the Use OS X Full Screen has no effect. It forgets either way.
-I have rebooted the VM numerous times after setting the correct resolution to no effect.

Hi Micheal,

Please follow the steps given below:
1. Re install Parallels Tools in Windows Guest OS: http://kb.parallels.com/en/4841
2. Enable Dynamic Resolution:

-Start Parallels Desktop.
-Go to your virtual machine's Configuration > Options tab > Full Screen.
-From the Scale to fit screen drop-down list choose Auto.

Let us know how it goes.
 
Hi Nikhil, I followed your instructions to the best of my ability, but in 'auto' mode it now forgets the (non-native) resolution I set on my primary monitor.

As per your instructions I have:
1. Uninstalled parallels tools (Resolution went very low. Everything is big)
2. Restarted
3. Installed parallels tools from action menu (ran autorun.exe on the mounted drive)
4. Restarted (as requested by the installer)
5. Set correct resolution on both displays (1920x1200 on main display, 1200x1920 on ext. monitor)
6. Exited full screen (to be allowed to change 'scale to fit' setting) in configuration
7. Changed it from keep ratio to auto
8. Entered back into full screen mode (fonts and task bar are barely readable)
9. Changed resolution on main display from 2880x1800 to 1920x1200 (everything looks good)
10. Rebooted to see if my problem is fixed

Unfortunately this procedure did not help. Now it has forgotten the resolution of my main display and put it back into 2880x1800.

11. I set the correct resolution again on the main display and rebooted just to see if it would work second time around, but sure enough it has gone back to 2880x1800 on the primary monitor, forgetting the resolution I set it at.

I have now set it back to "Keep Ratio" which at least remembers the resolution I set on the primary display which is more important to me.

Sorry to only clarify this after you have already responded, but I would like it to remember the resolution of BOTH monitors when I switch in and out of full-screen.
 
The handling of multiple monitors when one of them is retina and the other isn't remains a challenge for Parallels. Drives me nuts! Either both want to be retina or both don't want to be retina.
 
Thanks for the info WorldIRC, glad to hear I'm not alone.

Nikhil, aside from buying a thunderbolt display or downgrading to a MacBook Air, is there anything else I should try? I think the non-retina macbook pros were already discontinued by the release date of Parallels Desktop 10 so I'm amazed that the developers haven't sorted this yet. Are they at least working on it?
 
To further elaborate...Mac OS X has no problem handling Retina + Non-Retina at the same time. Drag windows across the screen? No problem!
So why can't Parallels do this? Is it a Windows issue or a Parallels issue?
