PD12, Mac Sierra, Win7 I can't ping google.com or use chrome browser

Ever since upgrading, my parallels desktop is hopeless. It used to be absolutely fine on 11 but now is a mess.
I have a Mac with latest Sierra and try to virtualise Win7. The Win 7 Internet Explorer sort of works but refuses to start on anything google domain (.com or .co.uk) and when I try to ping google domains on cmd.exe they all time out. I can ping BBC.co.uk and get sluggish responses.
Can anyone suggest how i can get use of Chrome back? I use it on the Mac and it is what i am writing this via... It was called from parallels desktop when i clicked Help... Forums.

I think I may have the answer... I was running Avast Secureline VPN when i set up the new PD12... so maybe it picked up those settings. Anyway, if i run the VPN then all is fine. I suppose that is my fault! So sorry everyone. I will get back on here if I am wrong, but for now I will run it with VPN.
