I have been doing some testing and find a relatively simple C program doing I/O runs with less system and user time under Mint on Parallels as compared with a native OS X compiled program on OS X. I am at a loss as to why an OS on top of a VM would be faster than the native underlying OS. If true, OS X has some serious performance issues.
