Prevent background processes from starting at login

Hi,

I love Parallels and it has become my go to VM over VMware. That being said, OSX has also become my preferred OS over Windows and I hardly ever need to use windows.

Since I have to use Windows very rarely, this means I don't have to use Parallels all that often. For this reason, I would like to keep all my resources free from running processes related to Parallels. I just want Parallels and all its daemons and subprograms to kick in when I start Parallels and go away when I get out of Parallels.

Is this too much to ask? Is this possible at all? I don't care if Parallels takes a little bit more to start if there is no daemon running in the background. I have my memory clogged with little processes (updaters, daemons and such) from other apps I have installed and when I have problems because of some conflict I go crazy trying to figure out what the source of the problem is. This is starting to look too much like Windows and I want to avoid it if I can.

Can anybody tell me if there is a way to disable the background processes and prevent them from starting when I login? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no way to disable them. Disabling e.g. parallels disp service you won't be able to start Parallels Desktop at all. You can manually disable it however in Terminal - but in order to start PD you will have to restart Mac or start Parallels Disp Service back with another Terminal command

Thanks for your reply. This is a bummer. OK, where can I find the commands to disable it and enable it via the command line in the terminal? Thanks in advance.

Does this situation still apply to Parallels 8? Does that version also run background processes when the application isn't running?
