Preventing file sharing?

Hi,

I use Parallels for one program only, and that is all I plan to use it for. The program does not need access to any data files on OS X, nor does OS X need access to what's in my VM. In other words, want to keep the two completely separate and not allow any shared folder or anything like that.

How do I do this, or is it setup like that by default?
 
I mean I opened edit->virtual machine, and shared folders shows "0 folders (0 enabled)" ...is this enough?
 
Ok thanks, I just turned it off.

One thing though...I changed the Administrator password from a simply blank password, and disabled the screensaver. Now XP hangs when it boots up, I guess because there is no way for me to enter my password.

WTF...how do I get around that?
 
Re-install, or try booting with F8 and see if there are any options available that will get you past this. It's a problem I've not seen before.

On the original subject, if you are serious about isolating the host and the guest you might also wish to disable clipboard sharing.
 
This is a pretty retarded program...the documentation TELLS YOU to change the admin password, and a screensaver in a VM is pointless when you can just minimize it in the host OS.
 
Wow, I finally got it when I repeatedly tapped the letter 'a' while windows booting up, then I was able to get Windows to tell me I entered the wrong password so I'd have a chance.

Brilliant software engineering, I'm glad I'm still on my 15 day trial....
 
The next step is to shut it down and make a copy of the ~home/parallels directory structure so that if it gets hosed you can recover quickly.
 
It may be of note here that for all "new" installs of 3188, the VM is created in a different path than before. It's now created in the Home Folder>Documents>Parallels path instead of the Home Folder>Library>Parallels
