I am a very small ASP that has users access their published apps across the Internet. Like a few others, I am having trouble with printing using the 2X ApplicationServer. Is anyone else using 2X in this way, and what are you doing about printing? What I need is a solution that will let each client print to their own local printer(s). I see that Screwdrivers and Print-IT are great for on the LAN, but how about across an environment more like a WAN? Thanks in advance!
A universal printing solution is in the pipeline, will post more information as soon as I have more information. Nixu
provison networks provsion networks has a good one called print it, we have about 8 ts running it. Excited to see what 2x is offering.
Welcome news... ...to hear that 2X is coming out with their own. nerd, I am setting up a Print-IT test in the next few days. Any gotchas to look out for? Are your WAN users having any issues? Do any of your users have lable printers that they are using? Thanks!
This is good news. I hope it will include the ability to print directly to the printer port by-passing the printer driver. The reason being is that there are numerous applications using dot-matrix printers with multi-part forms. These forms are not the standard page size which can cause problems for windows printer drivers and the speed to print using the Windows' print driver is often too slow for the clients. So in this case we send the printer control codes and text directly to the printer port so the printer prints in its native modes just as it used to do under DOS. This works fine under terminal services as long as the printer is actually attached to the Terminal Server. We need a solution that works when the printer is attached to a remote work station. Simon
