prl_vm_app - what is it and possible problem

I have upgraded from v3 to v4 and it seems that the process prl_vm_app is causing problems. It's CPU usuage is ranging from 16-50% and there has been permanent hard drive usuage for the past 30 minutes, which I suspect prl_vm_app is responsible for.

What is this process for and how can I stop it from claiming so much CPU and hard drive resources?
 
Ah, OK, prl_vm_app does not have the offical Parallels icon in the Activity Monitor and thus I was unsure where it originates.

I have by now realized that the activity was caused from within the XP VM by "Windows Search 4.0 for Windows XP", which had started a full indexing process although it was not scheduled to do so and although it should be fairly up to date. Maybe this was caused by the Parallels upgrade process.

BUT, the situation is now solved, that is, I know the cause.
