Pro 11 to Home upgrade

I had the Pro subscription which just expired and I bought the Parallels 12 upgrade (Home/Student) as I no longer need the Pro. The upgrade key is not working. Is it something to do with the licensing terms or a technical issue?

Since your Parallels Desktop for Mac Pro has been expired, the license can no longer be used. You must have purchased a full version of Parallels Desktop 12 for Mac standard instead of upgrade.
Kindly reach our support team to receive a refund for the purchase or to purchase full version license by paying the difference amount.
