Problem Downloading Free Systems From Installation Assistant

Whenever I try to use one of the four "Free Systems" shown at the bottom of the Installation Assistant's Create New screen, nothing happens. I select the distro, click continue, and the screen flashes momentarily before going back to the Control Center. This wasn't always the case, but I can't find anything in the documentation that states this is deprecated or limited in some way. I've submitted a trouble ticket, but there's been no response for weeks. Asking the experts (that's you all) for advice or any commentary that might explain what is happening.

It's not exactly a solution, but after updating to version 17 that was released today, Kali is loading just fine. Thanks.
