Problem running multiple HD in Parallels

Hi,

I recently reinstalled Parallels and now wanted to ad a custom Bootcamp config. Everything runs fine with the initial "C:" drive and booting to that.

Now I wanted to ad two more HDs that I need the guest OS to have acess too (applications etc.). I manually edited my pvs file like I did formally. Now something really wierd happens. I save the file like below:

Code:
[System]

From my experience this should work as is.

But now when starting up the VM the Guest Os does not "see" the extra HDs at disk1. I quit the VM reopen then pvs file and it now looks like this:

Code:
[System]
Boot = c
Parallels VM Name = Microsoft Windows XP

......

Note the missing custom HDs.

Am I missing something in my initial pvs file?

Can you try it on latest version? I tried to reproduce this situation with your config, but failed to do this. All work fine and the config file is not changed.

why bootcamp when it is still in beta?

if I was a serious gamer I would get a purpose built PC or a playstation 3 etc etc

I tried with the latest version now and the problem persists.

I did a complete uninstall of the old Parallels installation, just in case something was interfering.

I customize my file, save it (Parallels is not running while I do this). I open it again to double check and everything I customized is there. I then open the VM and it reverts to the pvs file that was generated via Parallels when I set the VM up. Very wierd.

I just declare all my hard disks as shared folders

as a long time mac user
(I rejected dos in 1995 )
I refuse to edit any sysconfig type file manually

I avoided bootcamp becasue it was in beta and still is
which is why I always ask "Why bootcamp?"

unless you are a hacker try and do it the easy way
use the automation of the Mac OS which you pay for
Win Xp is catching up in automation
