Problem with MSN and AIM

I've been using Parallels for a while now, and haven't run into this problem yet. Actually today was the first day I installed MSN and AIM on the Win VM (just to test out the isight), and realized that I cannot connect to either.

AIM = Connection timed out
MSN = Failed to connect

and now I also realize that my internet doesn't work on it... whereas it works perfectly fine on my native OSX. Any suggestions? Thanks
 
You need to give us a little more to go on....

how is your connection set up ?
Ethernet Cable or wireless
Are you behind a router ?
DHCP ?
Bridged or Shared network ?
Do the 2 Paralells interfaces exist in OSX's network settings ?
Do they have ip addresses ?
does your windows installtion have the Parallels adapter installed ?
Does that adapter have an IP address ?
Have you tried uninstalling and resintalling Parallels tools in your VM (reboot after uninstall and reinstall) ?

Should do for starters....

I'm connected to a Linksys wireless router. The only computer using it actually.

Yes, and they're both green.

It should, but just in case I don't... how?

Am I a nub for not knowing how to check for this?

Did that a while ago.

BTW My internet explorer doesn't work as well... but Firefox does.

Just try going to Devices menu->Network Adapter 1 and tell us which options are selected now. If Shared Networking is not selected at the moment, select it and check if things got better.
 
Checking for viruses now, so we'll see if that's the problem... but I doubt it. I barely use Parallels, because I don't need to.

What's selected in my Devices menu is Default Adapter. If I highlight Shared Networking, nothing different happens.
 
Yah changing it to shared networking, it does nothing to windows. Firefox in windows works because I'm actually browsing and posting on this forum through parallels. It's just that IE, and everything else that accesses the internet doesn't work.
 
check your IE settings for a rouge proxy server setting.. sounds to me like that might be a place to start if FF definitely works but IE doesnt.

Also, start a command prompt and try to ping google.com then try ping 64.233.187.99 (one of googles IP addresses.
Do you get replys or request timed out ?
 
OMG, that's what it was. I must have missed the proxy settings on IE, apparently when I installed some Comcast software through Windows it must have changed it to redirect through them. Once I deleted that, it fixed all my other peripheral programs. Bizarre.
