Problems accessing a NAS

Hello,
I have been using Parallels 7 with Windows 7 installed on a iMac (2011 edition with Mountain Lion) since some time without much trouble.
Now I have added a Synology DS 213 NAS to my network. The instalation over the Mac side worked well, the NAS is accessible with Safari as well with the Finder, Time Machine is also working well.
On the other hand I have big problems to access the NAS with Windows. I can do it with InternetExplorer but Windows Explorer would not recognize it regardless what I have tried up to now.
I believe that the NAS has the proper settings since when I type the IP-address the created folders are presented and I can access the content as desired. On the other hand when I would want to do a backup I can not adjust the destination in the settings of the appropriate software.
I am not that knowledgeable regarding the internals of Windows and virtualisation (especially with Parallels), but the only thing I can imagine is that there must be some hidden settings in Parallels which would allow to access the NAS over Windows explorer.
I would more than appreciate some help to make the NAS usable also in the Windows 7 environment. Thank you in advance for all the efforts
 
Change the VM network settings from Shared Networking to Bridged Networking and it will work.

(If you know something about networking this moves the VM from a subnet, behind the Mac, to the same network as the NAS)

Thank you so much. Had the same problem on my MacBook and my iMac and could immediately solve it following your advice. I recognized they have a lot of options for Bridged Networking and I used the "Standard" option. I am not sure whether I will ever check out what is behind all these possibilities for networking.
