Problems installing MSMoney

I'm a bit of a newbie at this, so bear with me....

I just installed Parallels on my Mac (10.4) and Windows XP, and am now trying to install MS Money from disk. But when I do so, I get the message:

The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in Safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.

I tried reinstalling Windows Installer, but to no avail. Any ideas?
 
Have you applied all of the updates & patches to your XP installation? There are quite a few components that must be installed prior to installing MS Money. Also, what version are you installing? I am currently running v2008 and upgraded from v2006. I also installed from the downloaded file that I purchased from MS.
