Problems with RHEL WS 4 32 bit version

The installation seemed to work fine but now it wont boot. It gets to point where it says:

Uncompressing Linux Ok...booting Linux

and then nothing happens.
It seems to have installed the smp kernel. Can that be the problem? Has any one had success with this version of RH and what am I doint wrong>
 
The problem was that it set up smp as default kernel. I went into grub and booted off the regular kernel and all is well. Changed grub menu as well so won't have future problems
