Is there a way to create a VM from the running MacOS? I would like to make a clone of my current system setup. Can you provide the steps to do this?
I am using Parallels 12.2.1, and running Mac OS 10.12.6.

    Thank you

  2. Hi,
    please use the steps below:
    1. Open Parallels Desktop.app from the Applications folder and select File > New.
    2. Scroll to the right under Free Systems > select Install macOS Using the Recovery Partition
    3. Click Continue and proceed with the installation.
    4. After the installation is finished, login to macOS and install Parallels Tools using Actions menu.

Thank you for the quick reply.
But if I use the Recovery Partition I will not get a clone of current system will I?. I don't think so.
I want to make a clone of my current running system as a VM (including installed apps and preferences, etc). How can I do this?
And, if need be, can I exclude certain files in the process (for instance my documents)?

  4. Actually, you cannot migrate your currently running system to VM, but you can make a back up copy of your current system, create macOS based VM and then inside you VM restore from back up your "current system"
Please check this out for more info.
