How about a small linux distro that can boot from a CD/thumb drive that has the 2X applicationserver client integrated. This would require a graphical way to see published applications like the Win32 client or a way to launch from a web browser on the linux distro however. Also a way to modify the primary server, port etc... maybe with a config file on the cd or thumb drive. This could be outside the compiled linux distro. Just a thought. 2X already bundle a solution based on a small mini distro which is suited for the enterprise environment supporting features like hot desking, centralized management, reporting and shadowing. You can check out http://www.2x.com/thinclientserver.

I am understanding that your query is more geared towards a distribution aimed at personal use while on the go. The latest version of the client is available here: http://downloads.2x.com/AppServer-LoadB ... nt.tar.bz2 and http://downloads.2x.com/AppServer-LoadB ... t.i386.rpm

You can actually ask the guys at Mustang themselves if they would be willing to bundle the client since its distributable.
 
Is there a way to put the distro / ThinCLient on a USB Thumb drive so the machines can boot from the USB device and connect to the 2X boxes.

This will helpl eliminate the need for PXE servers in our remote locations which are connected via a DSL line.

Right now, you can do a HD install on the ThinClient for people over a DSL line. This can be done from the CD or even over the network.
 
Thinstation does it,-on the client side- asit offer the chance to boot a 2x or nx client from USB CD flash card, etc. thinstation.sf.net
