Questions about Parallels Desktop for Mac

I will be taking a class that requires me to have Parallels. I use an iMac G5, OSX 10.4.11. I do not have any Windows applications installed, but I do have iLife that provides Word, etc.
How difficult will it be for me to install Parallels, and particularly WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO INSTALL TO BE ABLE TO USE PARALLELS DESKTOP FOR MAC? I have been told I would need to buy a Windows license/install disc -- correct? If so, where do I get this?
Sorry, I am completely new and seriously tech-challenged!
Thanks for any help.

You can't use Parallels Desktop on a PowerPC Macintosh (The G5 is a PowerPC processor). You need a Mac with an Intel processor.

You can buy Windows from most places that sell PC software (except maybe places that just sell games).
