Quickbooks installed and running but won't open backkups

I have Quickbooks installed and running. It can create a new company data set and operate with it either in a win folder or a mac folder. But it gives an error message everytime I try to restore from a backup file that originated on the old win system. Any tips where to start looking to fix this?

Parallels Desktop 7
Win 7.1
