Quicken 2013 Network Timeout

I'm having a strange issue w/ my Quicken install. Running P8/W8 on a late 2012 iMac.

Quicken will occasionally timeout and hang. I can reestablish the network connection by simply closing and reopening Quicken but it seems odd that this would be happening. Can't find anything on the Quicken Forums about this issue and just thought I would reach out and see if anyone was having a similar issue.

Not a major issue, but annoying for sure.

I also see this and can't find a solution other than what you're doing. Also, my "Tax Planner" screen comes up blank; I assume yours does too?
I asked Quicken Support about these situations and they said running under Parallels isn't supported. They did say that having the QDF file on the virtual C: drive rather than on a Mac shared drive might help, but I found no difference.
 
Is Quicken the only app loosing the internet connection?
The only thing you can do from Parallels Desktop side is to play with the Network settings at Virtual Machine > Configure > Hardware > Network. Try to switch it between Shared and Bridged and see if it makes a difference for Quicken.
 
Quicken is just about the only app I run under Parallels. Apps not under Parallels don't lose the internet connection. I changed the Parallels network setting to Bridged:Default Adapter and ran the normal Quicken update. It ran without a hitch and, I think, twice as fast. So far, so good.
The Tax Planner screen still comes up empty, but I don't think there's any hope of that being fixed without Intuit's involvement, which they refuse. Oh, well.

Continued Problems

I'm in the same situation as Bobsie. I've tried tweaking my settings to no avail.

I'm sadly coming to the conclusion that Quicken 2013 is buggy as hell...shame on Intuit.

Buggy? You Bet!!

Here's what I wrote to Quicken Tech Support after they pointed me to a 2011 article about how they don't support VMs:

"So...Intuit has known about this problem for at least 2 years and has chosen to do nothing about it.

Intuit has failed to produce a Quicken for Mac that does what the Windows version does.

Quicken 2013 continues to trash the QDF file upon syncing with the cloud. Intuit comes up with fixes, but it breaks again after a while. We're now up to Release 11 and it's only February.

Evidently Intuit is unable to hire competent Systems Analysts & Developers.

It must not be much fun to work there."

Windows Firewall Conflict

I think it's the windows firewall conflicting. Don't understand the intermittent issue, but when I turned off the soft firewall I was able to eliminate the error message.

On second thought...

Check that...kind of makes sense if the soft firewall is designed to time out an open port. Just a guess...
