RAM use with Parallels V1970 and WinXP

When I start my WinXP SP2 VM in Parallels V1970 the "Wired" ram usage on my MacPro jumps from a negliable 1.38 Megs to whopping 1.18 GIGS! and this is without XP doing anything at all.:confused:

Is this normal RAM use? When The VM is shut down the RAM is released

How much RAM did you give to your VM? Under Preferences, how much RAM did you ask Parallels to reserve? It will wire all the RAM needed for the VM.
 
Sure sounds like that's what's happens. I'm not running 1970, but I can tell you on 1940 and the 3120, that doesn't happen for me.
