I'm having mac OS issues that will require my macbook pro to be wiped clean, OS Mojave reinstalled, and then all applications & data restored from my time machine backup. Although the hardware will be the same, from a software perspective it will be a 'new' computer.

Are there any issues with restoring parallels desktop from the backup? The reason I ask is that Apple support told me there will be issues with Microsoft software (not the pvms) because those apps (Excel, Word,...) will think it's a different computer and the licenses won't be valid.

Will my parallels desktop license still be valid when restored to my 'new' computer? Or will I have issues similar to those for the Microsoft apps? If I will have issues, what should I do?

  2. Hi, please use this KB article to deactivate your Parallels Desktop license and activate it again.
If you will see any difficulties, please let us know.
Also we recommend to back up your VM.
