Record screen with another audio source than microphone

I need to make a screen record but I'd like to record the audio from the iMac's audio input. Is it possible ?

You can change the default input audio device in System Preferences -> Sound -> Input
Record Screen uses the default audio input.

Please expand on what the term "default audio input" means. If a video on the screen includes a soundtrack, is the soundtrack, in effect, the default audio input?

It's possible to use an external or internal Microphone to record a video. However, it's not possible to add a sound track as a input source to record a video.
