I tried updating my Redhat Enterprise 7.0 to 7.1 and the update fails in the sense that GUI/Gnome logins in Parallel 10 do not work after the update (console/command line logins do work). The GUI/Gnome login will accept the user name and password, try to start and then go back to the login screen.

What I login on the console and type 'startx' the problem GUI fails to start with a seg-fault in the GLX module (see log below).

Reinstalling parallel tools does not fix this issue.

Anyone successfully updated their Linux RHEL 7.0 client to 7.1?

Hope this helps someone. The issue appears to be the mutter compositing manage package (which uses OpenGL, so OpenGL, 3D support, video driver, etc. are the likely real culprit). This command upgrade to RHEL 7.1 works until Parallels fixes the issues:

Reboot and re-install parallel tools.

I have a similar problem and tried your suggestion of the yum update, reboot, re-install parallels tools. This did not work for me. I am still getting the following error

Nope. Simply excluding mutter & gnome-shell and reinstalling tools (console command line) worked for me. Are you sure mutter & gnome-shell were not accidentally updated?

Yes, I confirmed mutter (3.8.4-16.e17) and gnome-shell (3.8.4-45.e17) remained unchanged after the update.

I reinstalled RHEL 7 from the 7.1 install disks. After parallels tools is installed, the user cannot login anymore. The login works on the console, but in the GUI (GNOME) the program logs the user in and then immediately X11 crashes and the login screen reappears. The most likely cause is the Parallels tools graphics driver. It is frustrating the Parallels will not acknowledge the issue and provide feedback to their customers.
 
Just wanted to confirm that I also see the same problem here using CentOS7. After installing Parallels Tools,
Xserver crashes. Am still able to login using shell, but cannot pull up the gui.

Is there an update from Parallels, or at least an acknowledgement of the problem? I have to move to VMware
because work can't be halted due to issues like this.
