Remote Access Setup

Hi

I'n new to 2X and could do with some help to setup a remote access scenario.

I have a user who has a Windows SBS 2003 Domain with the 2003SBS server acting as a gateway to the WAN through a Draytek 2820 router. I have installed a Windows 2008 R2 server with Application Server (v9.0) on the LAN but it has dual NICs, one on the LAN and the other on the WAN, so that the server can be accessed directly from the Internet. LAN clients can see/run published apps fine.

Can anyone advise the setup(s) required for this to work from a remote location? How do I address the 2X Application Server and on what port? Can I just use an external IP address? Should I configure it without SSL to start? What about the Web Portal? What certificates are required in SSL land? My initial thoughts were to use Citrix but I got bogged down with having to create SSL certificates for FQDNs.

Hi

I've been doing some testing and have set up port forwarding from the Draytek 2820 to the 2X Application server on port 80.

When I run the 2X client from my remote PC I can see a NAT Session being set up on port 80 to my 2X Application server but it won't connect.

I have one Gateway defined in the Application/Loadbalancing Console showing as Normal mode.

Do I need a separate Gateway defined for remote access?

Surely this product is being used for remote access somewhere?

If not Mr 2X where do I get help?

I am attempting to access my Application server by the external IP Address on port 80 using Gateway Mode.

I was advised by a support person at 2X not to install IIS on my Application Server.

The Application server has two NICs 192.168.100.202(LAN) and 192.168.0.202(WAN) and 2X is showing both of these NICs in the 2X Secure Client Gateway properties page. The 2X Secure Client Gateway port is 80 and both IPs are bound to the Gateway.
