If I select "Keep Files" when removing a Virtual Window, what files are kept? All the files including the Windows Files, or all the files except the Windows files? I want a clean install of Windows from a new DVD in a new Virtual Window. If old Windows files are kept, wouldn't it corrupt the new Windows installation?

Yes, I meant Virtual Machine. I have two Virtual Machines, a Windows 7 and a Windows 8.1. It looks like they share some (but not all) programs and/or files. I want to get rid of the Windows 7 (it was originally Vista w/an upgrade to 7) because it gives me all kind of fits. I have a new Windows 7 Operating system DVD and I want to do a clean install with it.. Thanks for your help.

They share some files? Why do you say that, what files do they share?
The VM is self-contained, it has a virtual disk that is very much, as far as the information in it, like a real disk on a PC, when you delete a VM and decide not to keep the files it's like formatting the PC.
You can share files and folders between the Host, OS X, and the VMs, this is set in the Sharing section of the configuration, so your OS X files can appear on the VMs, deleting a VM does not delete these files.
I cannot be more specific than this because I have no idea what files are you talking about and how you reached the conclusion they are shared (if you are correct or not).

I guess in reading some FAQ's, I thought I read something about the possibility of deleting a file that might be used someplace else, maybe I just misunderstood. Also, my Windows 8.1 machine has some programs that were installed in Windows 7. But I think I might have just re-installed them in 8.1 when I created that machine. My memory is not the best.
I guess to put it simply, can I remove the Windows 7 Virtual Machine completely including all the files, without affecting my Windows 8.1 machine. I don't think I have any data in the Windows 7 machine that I can't live without. Tomorrow is D-Day as my new Windows 7 DVD is supposed to be here tomorrow. Thanks again for your help.
