Retina Display DPI on Windows 7

BTW, If you reboot the VM it automatically changes the DPI assuming your monitor is hooked up and the mbp is closed.
One thing I'd love to see is do scaling like MAC does. When Retina + External are detected, keep the VM resolution and DPI high but on the external monitor scale the content down 50%
When just the Retina is detected it works fine.
When just the external monitor is hooked up and/or non-retina enabled, figure out a way to quickly switch DPI settings in Windows (may not be possible, but a logout is better than a reboot).

Same problem here. Retina MacBook Pro with an External Display. I run the Parallels window on the External Display and it automatically forces a 199% Zoom under Display Options on Windows 7. You can change it back to 100% (Default), but when you Apply it it makes you log out and back in, and then it's zoomed again.
If I drag the window down to my Retina Display, it looks great. Only issue is that I don't want to run it there, and I need better than 640x480 display resolution on my external monitor.
Cannot find an option to disable this "help" that Parallels is forcing on me. Would have preferred if they just didn't do anything and allowed us to change the zoom ourselves if we so desired. I actually prefer being able to run it at 2880x1800 on my Retina Display, which can only be done with it NOT zoomed.

Done that at least 3 times and it has no effect
Thank you for that setting.
I had to uncheck "Enable full resolution" under the "Retina display" area of Virtual Machine -> Configure -> Hardware -> Video.
Only unchecking "Optimize Windows for full resolution" did not correct the problem. Not sure what the difference is between these, but I'm glad @AlekseyM posted that, I may not have found it otherwise.

Did that fix the issue if you are in Coherence mode too?
I don't run in Coherence mode, so I can't speak to it, though I can see how that would be annoying if the resolution was lower on your external monitor.
Just for fun I went into Coherence mode, and yes, the windows on my external display had the correct resolution, so this appears to fix that as well (though it quickly reminded me WHY I don't use Coherence mode).

Ran into this same problem. I unchecked enable full resolution, but that's just a workaround I think. When I drag the window from my non-retina display to my retina display I think it should adjust the DPI/resolution but it does not. The last beta of PD8 seemed to do this just fine.

I've been having this EXACT same issue on both Parallels 8 and now Parallels 9. This really needs to be fixed since it makes it annoying to have reboot the VM every time I cycle between my external monitor and my rMBP. I have my rMBP set for "Best for Retina Display" and my VM with Retina support enabled. My external monitor is 1920x1080. I cannot switch between the two in full screen without rebooting and it's been this way in both Parallels 8 and 9. PLEASE fix this... VMWare Fusion works just fine but I really dislike their interface but I'm getting seriously close to switching...
EDIT: Actually now its worse... I just realized that in Parallels 9 I lost my ability to select "Scaled" in the video settings I can only disable or enable Retina support... Without the "Scaled" option I have reboot my VM EVERY SINGLE TIME I switch it between my external and native display. This is unacceptable.
