Run perl script on parallels(windows) running on Mac

Hi,

Can someone please explain how I can run a perl script from parallels with windows running on a mac. When I go to run the file it opens in notepad. I am searching for the perl executable on mac, however it will not let me select it with the Open With program on windows. I just want it to actually execute not open in notepad.
