At times (not always), a Win98 SE VM never updates the screen and still shows the "shutdown" screen even though it really has rebooted and is waiting at the login prompt.
As well, I use MS DOS 7 (ala Win98 SE) and have gotten similar results. I have a DOS reboot command, and so the last thing the VM shows is the text of "rebooting the computer" even though it successfully reboots.
I suspect since the MS DOS 7 files originally came from Win98 SE, that it is the same problem.
I have been unable to come up with anything other than randomness to point at.
Powering off/on the VM is the only way I have found to get the screen to update again.
