Segfault, fixes don't work

I'm trying to get parallels to work on ubuntu edgy.. I have modified the files due to the bash issue, and the parallels-config runs now with no errors. However I get the following errors in the terminal when I start parallels (I have tried with sound disabled as well):

Hi

I'm having the same problem. parallels-config runs fine after fixing the sh/bash issue in the script.
When I try to run parallels I get the segmentation fault. How do I go to the help menu and enter my registration code or disable sound if the application itself doesn't run :(
Am I missing something completely obvious here?

I am having the same problems. However if I run parallels as root I still get the error messages but Parallels starts.

I haven't been able to start a VM because I'm also having the invalid activiation key problem.

Speaking for them, Ubuntu is not currently on the list of supported guests. Wouldn't be suprised if it is on the next release - too many people using/liking it.
 
Yep I do understand it's not *officially* supported yet a note saying when/if it will be supported would take about 2 mins to write.
 
Well, it has never been supported. I have the previous release of Ubuntu running under Parallels and had to do some tweaking to get it to work. Ubuntu appears to do some unique configuration. I have seen thru many simulators/emulators/virtualizers that testing the bleeding edge of Linux distros will be problematic. The vendors will <always> be behind because they have to test so many things with each distro. Give them some slack! I have found that patience and friendly testing/feedback has been well received by these types of vendors.

You could of course relate how you see their mac version getting a lot of support while the Linux version seems to be lacking attention. ;>)
