Shared Internet Applications Not Working

Hey,
OK - I'm still getting the error, but the error is specific only to the ShipWorks App - the error window is within ShipWorks. Shipworks must be looking for a default browser setup somewhere ... when I launched Outlook Express in the Windows side, and clicked a link in an email, it opened on the Mac OS with no errors.

We'll chalk this one up to being an application-specific error. I've uploaded a screenshot of the error window that comes up.

I had the same problem with links opening in windows instead of Mac OS X. I deleted those registry keys, but I'm getting the same problem you're having, but to me it's happening in Outlook and also if I type a URL in at the Start->Run dialog.

Output of those reg query commands are:

error dialogs

Here are the error dialogs, one from Start->Run, and entering http://www.google.com and the other from clicking on a link in Outlook.

It does open the link in Mac Firefox, but this error is displayed as well.

danderson, please check Virtual Machine/Configure.../Features/Internet Applications/Web Pages - it must be "Open in Mac OS X" for your test.

What is your guest OS?
What web-browser do you use in guest OS?

It does open the link in Mac Firefox, but this error is displayed as well.

Does it open the link in both cases or only by clicking on a link in Outlook?
 
Do you have firefox as default web-browser in your Windows? If yes then it seems to be known problem - we are working on this issue.
 
Sorry to bump an old thread, but this exact issue is happening to me too and I haven't been able to find a more recent thread about the issue. I managed to get links clicked in Windows to open in my Mac browser, but it's still giving me the same error message that danderson was getting:

I'm running PD 4.0 on OS X 10.6.2 to host a Windows XP Pro SP3 VM. Has anyone found a way to suppress the error message? Things would be pretty seamless if I could get rid of it. It's nice to click a .docx file on my Mac desktop and have it open in Office 2007 for Windows, then click a weblink from that document within Word and have it open in Firefox for Mac! I'm 95% of the way there!

This would be less of a problem if the error message didn't make the program where you clicked the link unstable. For example, I have to run the Lotus Sametime client for Windows, as the Mac version is not compatible with Snow Leopard. But when someone sends me a link to click in Sametime, and it opens in Firefox for Mac, I get an error message like the one above, only it's hidden underneath the active Sametime chat window. Sametime stops working correctly. Sometimes I can close the error message and it fixes everything, and sometimes I can't brig te error message to the forground to dismiss it at all. In the latter case, Sametime completely crashes.

I ealize this particular example is more of a Sametime issue than Parallels, but I'd still love any feedback for preventing the error messages in the firt place.
 
I finally got rid of the error message above. Since nobody has posted a fix, I thought I would come back and share the solution that worked for me.

1. Open Explorer
2. Select Tools and then Folder Options
3. Select the File Types tab
4. Select Extension - (NONE), File Type - URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol
5. Click Advanced toward the bottom of the window
6. In the Edit File Type window, select open and click Edit
7. Clear the DDE message box (which should contain "%1")
8. Click OK, Click OK
9. Repeat for File Type - URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy

Now clicking links in Windows apps opens Firefox for Mac, and there's no error messages.
