Shared Profile Infinite Loop on Windows 10

Hello,
I recently had a problem with shared profiles so I disabled it in the settings. I thought I would give it another go as I need to share files between my imac host and my win10 vm. So I tried to re-enable shared profiles. However, now every time I log in to the vm I am presented with a Parallels Shared Profile message that says it needs to log me out to apply the settings. This happens every single time. As soon as I click on OK then I am logged out. Very frustrating!

Any help or guidance please?

P.S. I am relatively new to Mac & Parallels and won't be offended at all if I have made some total n00b error. Just need the info :)

I found that not clicking on the dialog box left the OS open. I uninstalled Parallel Tools and re-installed. This has partially fixed the problem. The dialogue box has disappeared (yay) BUT the permissions are now very mixed up. For example I can't delete any files directly from my desktop... I've no idea why. If I click on Parallels shared folders it says that //psf is not available. Could this be anything to do with it?

Could really do with some help...
 
I have now uninstalled and re-installed parallels tools. I get a new message on boot:

I have tried installing this several times. Is there an issue? Should I just contact support?
 
Hi James,
Please un-install Parallels Desktop and then try running a Repair Disk permission on the Mac Hard Drive from Disk utility. Install Parallels Desktop refer, http://kb.parallels.com/122647 and check how it works.
Note: Un-installing and re-installing Parallels Desktop will not affect your Virtual Machine.
 
None of this has helped. However, something I noticed. If I installed Windows 10 with out running windows update the drives showed up without any issues. Soon as I ran windows update I lost all my drives after the reboot plus getting the same messages being reported
 
Thank you Dishant: When I first noticed that my drives were all gone I googled a few of the "fixes". This ONLY happened after the latest windows update from last week. If I create a brand new Windows 10 VM, install parallel tools, and make sure the drives are shared they show up. No issues. When windows decides its time to download and install the latest update patches is when the drives disappear. However, when I look at the configuration it looks like the drives are shared out. They are checked off, but just not displaying. I also receive the message "//psf is not available" from the desktop icon. I also wondered if it thought it was installing the drives to another user or the admin user. I cant see this happening since it only allows one user at a time to be logged in.
 
Hi All, Please follow the steps suggested below:
1. Shut down Windows 10 technical preview.
2. Go to VM Configure http://kb.parallels.com/117287 > Options > Sharing > uncheck shared profile.
3. Start Virtual machine install Parallels Tools manually as suggested at http://kb.parallels.com/en/112609
4. Once it is completed Shut down Windows 10 technical preview again.
5. Go to VM Configure http://kb.parallels.com/117287 > Options > Sharing > check shared profile and see if the issue still persisting,
 
Ram, I actually REMOVED the Windows 10 VM this morning. It was not doing me any good since i could not get my drives to show up. Ill reinstall it now and see if I can try your steps again. Im sure this is something that you guys can test easier on your end than mine. If you have a Windows 10 VM just run the windows update. Im sure there will be something to update. Let it update and reboot. You should now now longer have your shared folders and drives visible.
Like I said -- Ill reinstall a windows 10 VM and report back
 
I escalated this issue through the Parallels support (case 2113953 for anyone @ Parallels looking at this response). Support have confirmed that the shared profile feature is broken on Windows 10. There is no ETA for a fix. My case was marked as resolved (even though it clearly was not) and I was advised to keep an eye on this kb article for a fix http://kb.parallels.com/122720. I was not offered a hotfix or a patch.

Very, very poor customer service if you ask me.
 
JameR, what actually worked for me was this. I followed http://kb.parallels.com/en/6885 article. I would shut down the VM, uncheck all the boxes under sharing and this went for sharing apps between windows and mac. Once rebooted I reinstalled the parallel tools and allowed it to reboot. Once rebooted I ran windows updates to make sure all of the updates were complete. Shut down the VM and then rechecked the shared connections. Restarted and have not had an issue since.
 
even though thread got hijacked by the "cannot access psf" symptom, i hope it's okay if i ask for clarity on the originally posted issue.
i have a user that is running fully up to date macOS, parallels, and windows 10. he wants to have the mac and windows sides syncing and sharing desktops but when he turns that feature on, the windows machine logs him off and when he logs back in, it gives the same message.
attached a screenshot of the dialogue box.
i have attempted to reinstall parallels toolbox but the issue persists.
is this a broken feature?
