Sharing Static IP - Need help

Hi all,

I'm having an issue sharing the same static IP in mac OS as in Windows 7 via ethernet.

What I need to do is have the ethernet set to 192.168.100.10 with a 255.255.255.0 subnet and have that same IP be recognized on the Windows 7 side. I've only been able to do this manually, though when I switch over I tend to get an IP conflict, regardless of what mode I'm using this in (shared, bridged, host).

I'm using the latest version of Parallels 7, fully updated.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.

You have 2 options, shared and bridge (host is a limited variation of shared):

Bridge network, both the host (osx) and the guest (windows) appear on the same network but they have to have DIFFERENT ip addresses as they are seen as two separate machines (for example: 192.168.100.09 for Windows and 192.168.100.10 for OSX).

Shared network, this creates a subnetwork where all your VMs are communicating externally via the OSX ip, imagine it like OSX, the host, being like a router with one external ip thru where all your machines (virtual) connect to the exterior.
In this case Windows will have an address like 10.211.55.1 (a different network).

In either case Windows cannot have the same ip (192.168.100.10) OSX has assigned to it.

The network settings of shared network are in Parallels Desktop>Preferences>Advanced>Network>Change Settings, here you can control the Parallels virtual router of Shared (and host) network.
