I've used parallels desktop for mac and have been pretty impressed by its functionality, but i'm a linux user and i'm wondering; can i get feedback from other users on how good the product actually is.

For me its competition between virtual box and parallels, on OSX it's really a no brainer. But how about on linux?

I'm using 12.04 ubuntu with 3.2 linux (generic). My PC is similair (if a little above) in spec to some of the best imacs available at the moment. So what i want to know is how parallels workstation 11 will fair in these catagories:

    -3d acceleration - will i be able to run games/advanced 3D software?
-Features - does workstation have coherence with windows 7 (soon 8)?
-reliability - will i be able to be certain it will work?
-speed - how efficient is it; i.e. will i be able to run it as fast as on an imac?

The main reason i'm asking this first instead of getting a free trial is because my internet is super slow so i need to allocate a good evening to run the download over.

So how does parallels desktop fair? Would it be worth me trying the trial?

It'd be great if i could hear from linux users as well as the parallels staff :p

I like Parallels better than VMware and VirtualBox. I have a Windows 7 Pro host with Linux as guest OS. Parallels works fine with Linux kernel 3.2.6 but Parallels Tools refusing to install - which makes parallels a bit of a chore to use. Also noticed that drag/drop files from guest to host machine corrupts the files. I have to copy them using cp command in terminal. That is also annoying.
In terms of MAC host and Linux guest, I hear from my coworkers, it works great.
