Simple Windows XP/3188 problem?

I just upgraded to 3188 and have what I'm sure if a very simple problem to correct.

Whenever I use Alt-enter to change from Full Screen mode when using Windows XP to "wiindowed mode", my entire XP desltop gets "squished" into the smaller dimensions of the windowed screen, so when I return to full Screen mode, all of my desktop icons are rearranged towards the top of the screen.

What do I need to do so that my XP desktop remains the same, and all my icons/items remain in their fixed position when I toogle between full and windowed mode?

You can use any "save desktop icon positoins" software to prevent repositioning the icons. Just search the software using google search. There are many freeware what do that.
