Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion Profile transfer, can't activate Parallels 7 again

I just recently upgraded my iMac from an older one running Snow Leopard to a brand new system running Mountain Lion. I used the migration wizard to move my profile off my old system onto my new one, which included my licensed version of Parallels 7. When I started Parallels on my new system it asked for my license code again, so I tried entering it and it gave me the message "Maximum number of registrations reached" and wouldn't let me activate the software. I checked my old system (which has been turned off since my upgrade a few days ago) and there does not appear to be a way to deactivate it. I read on the knowledge base that you can activate a new version which should deactivate the old one--but after having both systems turned on and connected online, this doesn't work either.

Is this a OS Upgrade issue (i.e. going from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion confused the software), or is this a licensing issue? (as in they changed something and now license are permanently attached to one system--which would make me convert to Fusion in 5 seconds if true)?

Anyone have an answer?

I'm not saying that the license issue is related, nor I can guarantee this will solve your issue. But some programs, like Parallels, that install files all over the place, can't really be migrated this way, and should be reinstalled on the target computer (I'm talking about just the program, settings and VMs can be migrated, no problem).

This might solve your issue, independently of this issue Parallels would give an error afterwards saying it can not start Parallels Services when you simply migrate it from one computer to the other.
 
Hi Specimen,
I just tried reinstalling and it gives me the same message of "maximum activations". I even uninstalled the program from my old system while connected to the internet hoping that might also do the trick--no luck.
