Hello, Have finally decided that it is probably worth it for me to get a basic subscription. I have several windows applications that I would like to run on my mac, as the windows screen is at a very awkward angle on my desk, while the mac is straight ahead. Am a Sr. Citizen now, very, so have a few very simple questions, please: a. Is there a User Guide or Manual ? Couldn't find any. If so, link to it, please ? b. Any caveats in using the very basic home edition for the $100 yr cost ? c. How does one switch from the basic mac operation to Parallels? Is it essentially very easy and "transparent" ? In general, are you folks satisfied in how it works ? Anything I should probably be asking re limitations, operation, etc. ? Thanks; appreciate the help, Bob
Hi Bob. As a fellow "senior citizen" (okay, I'm only 80 but one day I plan on getting old), let me see if I can help with a bit of assistance. In order of your questions: a. I've never found (nor seemed to need) a user manual. For me, the software has been pretty simple to install and use. (Your mileage may vary, I've been playing computer since the early '60s) b. Caveats? Other than the subscription price and Microsoft problems with updates (if you should happen to be a MS Insider and running betas), I haven't really had any problems. Again, YMMV. c. Parallels is in your Applications folder once it's installed. Point and click. That loads the program. To switch between Mac and Windows, I use the right-hand Control key and the right arrow. To return to Mac, right-hand Control key and left arrow. Tres simple. I've been using Parallels for about three years with no problems. I used VMWare for a very long time until Mac switched to ARM architecture and VMWare didn't support the platform. I hope this overly long post answered some of your questions. Feel free to ask if you have other questions.
