SSE Instruction Set Supported?

does Parallels support the SSE instruction set? One of my applications, Pixmantec Raw Shooter, requires it, and its not running at all (posted in a separate thread). Pixmantec suggests that it may be due to no Parallels support for SSE, as the app runs fine in boot camp.

Is SSE supported, or will it be soon?

Thanks for the confirmation, Andrew. I am pursuing with Pixmantec as well, SSE support was their first thought. I'll keep pursuing and post here any further findings.
 
Ummm... This is a Windows app correct?

Someone recently noticed that a Windows system call in Parallels was incorrectly identifying the CPU as a P3 (which does not have SSE2 or 3 support). An app that requires SSE would probably make the system call to id the processor before attempting to use instructions that may not be there.

Perhaps that could be the trouble?

EDIT: Nevermind... CPUZ disagrees with me. It correctly ID's the processor.

The *really* interesting thing is that it correctly ID's the timings of my RAM, and the current real speed of the processor as is set by the Mac's speed stepping.

Pixmantec on Parallels MacPro Not Working

I still cannot get Pixmantec RawShooterPremium to work on my MacPro. I've found some reports on DPReview (a photography forum) from a couple of months ago that it was running under Parallels on a Mac laptop. Also another report that it doesn't run on a Mac Pro, which is my problem.

I've been in contact with Pixmantec, but help is limited there, as they were acquired some months ago by Adobe, and there is no more development or support for the RSP product (rumor is that they are all now working on LightRoom). I've been getting some suggestions, like SSE, but so far nothing that is helping. Symptom is that program does not start, or terminates very quickly.

Can I ask that the Parallels QA group download Raw Shooter Premium from the Pixmantec web site and test it on Mac laptop and Mac Pro? It has a 15 day free trial period, you won't be able to buy a license, they aren't for sale. But to see if the program will launch or not is independent of a license key. This is a Windows app that should run.

Why do I want to do this when there are other Raw photo editors available? I have thousands of photographs I have processed with the Pixmantec tool, and all the settings I used are in Pixmantec format. I'd have to spend hundreds of hours to try to recreate what I've already done with Raw Shooter. The whole point of Parallels is to be a bridge environment from windows to OS X for these kinds of apps.

I've already purchased a Parallels license for my Mac Pro. I know the Mac Pro issues are being worked and it will be a great tool. Just hope that you can take this app and make it run so the tool is even better. If Raw Shooter has a problem running, then there are likely other apps that have similar issues.

OK, I got this working.

Pixmantec had a vague memory of a problem of needing an older version of the product to be installed first, which I had already tried.

The recollection was mostly correct, but not quite. I downloaded and installed RSE (Raw Shooter Essentials), a free version of RSP. Ran it/registered, then started RSP, and it opened fine.

Leaving this detail here for anyone else that encounters the problem can find it in a search.

Same directory for installation??

Are you installing RSE and RSP to the SAME directory, or to the default directories that Pixmantec's installer specifies?

I'm having the same issue with Parallels Desktop for Linux v2.2, but the workaound didn't seem to work there.

Ubuntu 6.06.1 Native OS
W2k w/SP4 Guest OS.
