Startup time for Parallels on Macbook

Is it normal for Parallels to take say 10 minutes or more to start-up ? Square Parallels Logo window sits there saying "Starting......" for many minutes. Latest version, ageing Macbook Pro with plenty of space and max memory.

Let's make that more like half an hour ?

@Robin Curtis please clarify which version of Parallels Desktop and Mac OS you're using.
