Stop Having Windows Open Files

I would like to know how I can stop Parallels from starting and trying to launch an application when I am opening files. For example, when I open an excel spreadsheet it launches Parallels and wants to open excel in windows instead of Office:MAC Excel. This happens with alot of other programs and gets annoying.

Turn off SmartSelect.

There are many threads discussing this if you bother to use the search.

Unfortunately you probably have some clean-up work in front of you. There is a script that a fellow-user wrote, I think it was bkirch, you'll find it in one of the threads.
