Stopping Parallels Boot Camp VM... why not?

I know the instructions ssy don't do it. That it may corrupt or result in instability.
What exactly is the problem?

I have been using Beta 2 (3094) and Win XP VM from Bootcamp (512 MB memory). Works pretty darn well and offers many conveniences on 15" my MPB C2D with 1GB ram. Well worth an $80 price tag.

The only issue for me is that parallels is slowing down OS X a little bit (less when paused, but still noticeable).

I will probably add another GB of RAM.
But I would like to know in more detail why I should not stop the XP Boot Camp VM?
 
If i had to guess, it's fact it's using a real disk and not a disk file. suspending it might cause problems. Perhaps that disk going to sleep on you before you unpause, confusing VM and crashing or other unknown problems with using a disk vs a file pretending to be a disk..
