streaming audio windows media player

hi,

I have parallels 3.0 build 5626 on Mac OSX 10.5.6, I am running windows XP proff...

I recently purchased a Denon 3808 Ci AV receiver which has audio streaming capabilities....using Windows media player.
on windows media player I shared my library but can't seem to get this to work on parallels??

I have a windows desktop and the exact same media sharing settings works on it.....so I am not sure what's causing this not to work??

I have my ethernet in bridged mode..and networked using
Parallels Host -Guest with IP 10.37x.xx.xx
parallels NAT with IP 10.xxx.xxx.xxx (different than above)
both with 255.255.255.0 subnet mask

how can I get this to work?? am I doing something wrong? I even tried the whole process with windows firewall switched off..

Mmmm... unfortunately I have not ever seen such devices (even not heared about them) and should ask some questions. How does this device it work? Am I understand rigth that it is capable to connect to the network and search the network for shared media-player libraries?

I think that problem is not related to Parallels (since you are using the Bridged networking), and I see several discussions of similar problems in the Google, but I have some general thoughts:

1) Make sure that "File and printing sharing" is started (Right-click "Local Area Connection" -> "Properties" and make sure that it is checked"
2) Make sure that this device understand the version of your Media Player. May be you need to upgrade the Media Player with the latest version from Microsoft

thanks for the reply.
usually these devices get an IP address as soon as switched on from the
all this devices does is scan for ports where windows media player (network sharing) is playing and play that music.

So, the device has to be able to get to (ports) Windows running on Parallels... i.e similar to a computer on network trying to connect windows ports running on parallels...with shared network.

do you know if NATting or port forwarding might help for such things?
