Without warning, and without any interactions with the guest OS (simply idling in the background), memory usage spike dramatically.
All host OS interactions came to a standstill or crashed.
After about 5 minutes of attempts I managed to force quit parallels desktop.
I had capped the guest OS at 12 GB out of my systems 16 GB of ram.
This is what activity monitor looked like:
It drops immediately after force quitting Parallels.
Frankly this is unacceptable behavior.
