Switch Resolutions - Change the default resolution

On my MacBook Pro, the default resolution is 3440 x 1440. When in Parallels, the resolution on my external monitor changes periodically to 1920 x 1080 (the default). How can I change the default resolution to match that of my MacBook Pro? Is there a way to change the default resolution to anything I select in case I want it different from my MacBook Pro?
